The 'Promau' alpine region is situated in the heart of the Nature Park at an altitude of 800 metres above sea-level and is characterised by its alpine pastureland, which is surrounded by wooded areas.
Historically, it lies on a old pack mule-track transport route between the Erzberg and Waidhofen/Ybbs.
The heart of the Lower Austrian Eisenwurzen Nature Park
The scenic open landscape provides a magnificent panorama with an unrestricted view of the so-called 'Voralpe' one of Hollenstein's local mountain ranges.
This panoramic scenery, the tranquillity and the lack of mobile phone reception make the Promau a liberating retreat for tourists and local residents.
